cpchem.comCPChem was formed on July 1, 2000, as a 50/50 joint venture between Chevron Corporation and Phillips Petroleum Company (now Phillips 66). The venture combined Chevron's petrochemical operations with Phillips' extensive chemicals business. CPChem's most significant recent project is the $6 billion U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project, which added a 1.5 million metric ton/year ethylene cracker and two polyethylene units in Old Ocean, Texas.
CPChem produces ethylene, polyethylene, polypropylene, alpha olefins, specialty chemicals, pipe, and other petrochemical products. Its Cedar Bayou complex near Houston is one of the largest petrochemical facilities in the world. The company also operates major facilities in Qatar (Ras Laffan) through its Q-Chem joint venture and has extensive pipeline and storage infrastructure along the Gulf Coast.
