    History of Chevron Phillips Chemical

    CPChem was formed on July 1, 2000, as a 50/50 joint venture between Chevron Corporation and Phillips Petroleum Company (now Phillips 66). The venture combined Chevron's petrochemical operations with Phillips' extensive chemicals business. CPChem's most significant recent project is the $6 billion U.S. Gulf Coast Petrochemicals Project, which added a 1.5 million metric ton/year ethylene cracker and two polyethylene units in Old Ocean, Texas.

Its Cedar Bayou complex near Houston is one of the largest petrochemical facilities in the world.
