Under the leadership of former CEO Charif Souki, the company pivoted to LNG after recognizing the potential for US natural gas exports. Sabine Pass LNG shipped its first cargo in 2016, making it the first large-scale LNG export facility in the contiguous United States.
Cheniere operates two LNG terminals: Sabine Pass in Cameron Parish, Louisiana (6 trains, ~30 MTPA capacity) and Corpus Christi in Texas (3 trains with expansion underway). The company also operates the Creole Trail Pipeline and Corpus Christi Pipeline connecting its facilities to major gas pipelines.
